Your Resilience Recognized

I feel energized as I reflect on the beginning of my music heals mission. So far, I’ve performed for 2 hours, connected with more than 90 patients & caregivers in medical-rehabilitation & memory-care facilities, donated 20 CDs (thanks to community-member purchases of refuge), and sent over 400 emails with musical reflections.

I'm compelled to acknowledge our loved ones, both living and passed, and our ancestors who, without realizing it, have helped us attune to building connection with others in our own special ways (even if these ways seem inconsequential at first glance). This project is my way of building connection and bringing something positive to the world. Whenever inspired, I invite you to connect with me by replying to any of these emails.

the gift of your endurance

This music is for you, if you’ve ever felt like you’re doing battle every day just to stay afloat. For those of you who find yourselves building back up, breath by breath, just to make it through the hour.

The world outside often doesn't understand this kind of resilience. The subtle disdain of society is everywhere, and it can make you want to retreat, to give up completely. And in those moments, I want you to know: that is not only okay, it's necessary.

You're not giving up, you're hibernating. You are conserving your energy, using your reserves to get you through the next moment. This forced patience, this quiet endurance, has given you a gift though: a depth of empathy and compassion that most can never understand.

You are stronger than any marathon runner or productivity guru. Your resilience is a powerful force. And I want to acknowledge it, and I want you to acknowledge it, too. You know who you are, and I see you, even if I've never said it before.

Craving more peace today?
